The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) said on Tuesday that it was willing to open office fees nationwide to facilitate the Favor Emergency Cash Program applicants, but only with federal government approval.
Some applicants for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s EHS program have been protesting for the past few days as they have not been able to check their fingerprints as NADRA offices across the country have closed the fees.
The confirmation of the thumb is a condition for the federal government to provide cash assistance to the outgoing low-income group of Kovid 19. Activists of the Favor Program have refused cash assistance applications for applicants whose fingerprints cannot be verified by their system and they have been asked to contact NADRA for this purpose.
A spokesperson for NADRA told The Nation that the authority was ready to open its offices, but only with the approval of the federal government. As a first step, we will open our Mega Center in the Blue Area of Islamabad today (Wednesday) for the convenience of the applicants, checking that all necessary precautions have been taken.
Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday launched the Favor Ration Portal to facilitate the private sector in providing food rations to the most vulnerable people after the COVID-19 crisis.
A spokesperson for the Ahlu program stated that the role of the government through the portal is to facilitate matchmaking between donors and beneficiaries (eg geographically) and to provide eligible beneficiaries with data. During the crisis, many private sector organizations agreed to help people as a supplement to government aid.
This portal enables this generosity to be integrated across the country. To simplify this process, the government developed a web-based portal accessible at https://rashan.pass.gov.pk/. The spokesman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had repeated,
The Favor Ration Portal will help philanthropists, charitable organizations and other NGOs to reach family members and provide ration to poor sections of society. The portal will play an important role in making the online portal ration distribution system fully transparent. Sania Nishtar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Social Security and Poverty Alleviation, said:
“The government’s role is to remain fully competitive between credible donors and eligible beneficiaries.” Beneficial information will be verified using eligibility data to determine eligibility, as part of the Ration Portal protocol.
Donors will be reviewed so that only respected, taxable and superficial organizations can become partners in the program. Subsequently, after the signing of the data confidentiality agreement, the beneficiaries’ information will be shared with donors to ensure the provision of food ration packs or the same benefits in cash.
The government will ensure that a family member oversees benefits and sample distribution. The private sector will be responsible for providing rations and providing cash equivalents to those who benefit from the system. Donors will be given a list of criteria from which category they want to choose. Dimensions include residential district / tehsil area, gender of beneficiaries etc.
Based on the criteria selected, the beneficiary sub-set will be identified by a large pool provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
There are two types of donors whose government is initially looking at the Favor Ration Portal, a not-for-profit private institution and a not-for-profit private institution. His eligibility is posted on the website https://rashan.pass.gov.pk/.
“We are starting with annual revenues of Rs 2 billion from major corporate donors, who are willing to donate at least Rs 10 crore in ration packs or cash equivalents,” he said. Similarly, non-governmental organizations approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs and EAD have also been invited to participate in the phase, which will have to contribute Rs 2 billion.
